Description: Ray Charles is a 2019 hand-cut paper artwork by Roche Jackson. This piece honors one of the greatest musicians in American history. Ray Charles helped shape soul, jazz, blues, and popular music with his unique voice, piano style, and creative vision.

This artwork is made from three layers of 300 GSM colored cardstock. Each layer is cut by hand using only an X-Acto knife. The process creates a detailed portrait with depth, texture, and a strong graphic style.

The yellow and deep maroon colors are inspired by the golden era of music and the bold style of screen printing. My background in T-shirt design and printmaking helped shape the color choices and layered approach used in this piece.

Ray Charles represents creativity, passion, and the lasting impact of music. This handmade paper artwork combines my love for design, craftsmanship, and the artists who have influenced generations.
