Fragmented Cultures Time Creates Anderson Roche Jackson CV
Roche Jackson is a Southern California based mixed media graffiti artist whose work emerges from memory in its rawest, most fragmented form.

Rooted in the underground culture of 1990s Los Angeles graffiti, hip-hop, skateboarding, and house music his early life was shaped by displacement, identity, and growing up as a Black kid in predominantly white suburban environments. In that tension, he found belonging through skate culture and graffiti crews self-made communities built on trust, movement, and shared experience.

These early foundations evolved into a career in visual communication and design, where he worked in graphic design and later as an art director, developing a disciplined understanding of composition, branding, and image making while stepping away from more experimental personal work.

Over time, his practice returned to fine art through a slower process of reconstruction and reflection. What began as structured design thinking gradually opened into intuitive, layered mixed media work.

Today, Roche Jackson creates dense mixed media graffiti paintings that function as emotional archives. Using vintage print materials from the 1960s through the 1980s, he constructs layered visual fields where graffiti marks, collage fragments, and abstract gesture collide. His work sits between street art and contemporary abstraction, transforming consumer imagery, nostalgia, and cultural residue into complex visual narratives.

Recurring recognizable silhouettes appear throughout his work as evolving visual anchors forms that shift between memory, symbol, and abstraction. These figures are not fixed characters, but repeating structures that allow new series and interpretations to emerge over time.

His process is intuitive and physical, centered on accumulation, erasure, and reconstruction. Each piece becomes a negotiation between control and chaos, clarity and distortion.

Roche Jackson’s practice exists at the intersection of memory, culture, and transformation turning lived experience into layered visual time capsules.
