Description:
Power Struggle is a 2026 mixed media graffiti painting by Roche Jackson, and the second piece in a three-part series created on a 24 x 36 inch handmade wood and MDF panel. The work continues the exploration of layered memory, consumer culture, and visual overload through dense collage and street art abstraction.
The composition is built from overlapping vintage advertising and archival imagery, including Campbell’s Soup advertisements, Minolta camera branding, and LIFE magazine covers. These cultural artifacts are embedded beneath layers of spray paint, acrylic gestures, and grease pen markings, creating a continuous surface with no negative space.
The imagery extends across the entire panel, wrapping around edges and reinforcing the idea that memory and consumer influence are inescapable and ever-present. The piece reflects a visual confrontation between control and chaos, where historical advertising language collides with contemporary graffiti aesthetics, forming a dense psychological field of layered cultural residue.
