Description:
Buggin is a 2026 mixed media graffiti painting by Roche Jackson, created on a 24 x 36 inch cotton canvas. As the first work in the Silhouette Series, the painting transforms the recognizable silhouette of a running rabbit into a layered exploration of memory, nostalgia, and personal history.
The silhouette is constructed from vintage magazine clippings, archival advertisements, typography, and expressive graffiti marks, creating a dense visual archive that rewards close inspection. Rich turquoise, green, and purple tones energize the composition while spray paint, acrylic paint, and layered collage reveal and conceal fragments of the past beneath the surface.
Inspired by childhood cartoons and the comfort they provided, Buggin uses motion as a metaphor for memory. No matter how fast we move through life, our memories remain with us, resurfacing through familiar images, colors, and cultural references. Set against Roche Jackson’s signature concrete-inspired background, the work evokes the feeling of an urban relic where street art, nostalgia, and contemporary abstraction intersect.
