Description: Buggin is a 2026 mixed media graffiti painting by Roche Jackson. The artist created the work on a 24 × 36 inch cotton canvas as the first piece in the Silhouette Series. It transforms the recognizable silhouette of a running rabbit into an exploration of memory, nostalgia, and personal history.
Roche Jackson builds the silhouette from vintage magazine clippings, archival advertisements, typography, and expressive graffiti-inspired marks. Together, these layered materials create a dense visual archive that rewards close inspection. In addition, spray paint, acrylic paint, and collage reveal and conceal fragments of the past throughout the composition.
Rich turquoise, green, and purple tones bring energy and movement to the painting. Meanwhile, the layered textures encourage viewers to discover new details with every viewing.
Inspired by childhood cartoons and the comfort they provided, Buggin uses motion as a metaphor for memory. Even as we move forward through life, our memories continue to shape us. They return through familiar images, colors, and cultural references. Finally, Roche Jackson's signature concrete-inspired background reinforces the feeling of an urban relic where street art, nostalgia, and contemporary abstraction come together.
